Collection: WAI ORA MARAE
The water drop shape depicts “He Wai Ora”
which evokes imagery of a central spring that
is a gathering place for our people of Ngāti
Kurī. The five notches represent our
significant maunga Mango Piko, Tohu Reo,
Kohuroa, Tohoraha and Utea. The sweeping
lines are our beaches Te One Roa a Tohe, Te
Wahapu o Houhora and Rarawa. Ngātaki is
the convergence point of many waters ‘he
rarawa’, Wai Māori, Wai Tai, Wairua, Wai
Whenua and Wai Ora.
Wai Ora marae is a vessel to sustain the whānau, uri and
hapū of Ngāti Kurī, and our community of Ngātaki. A
comforting space in times of mourning, a home away from
home, a place of learning and connection to uplift our
people.
To quench our thirst for learning about who we are and
where we come from, our history, our reo, our whakapapa,
our mātauranga, our stories of tāngata and whenua and our
deep connections to the land and the waters that surround
us.
